    I need help, What can I do if I cant appear on my court date?
    Hi, I am an 18 year old girl, I got caught smoking marijuana, the police did not see me with it, but saw me caughin, it was the first time I did it and I was at central park ny. I got a court date, and I can't attend. I don't know what to do, I'm really scared, and I really need help. I am a girl that doesn't even do drugs, and telling my parents is out of the question. I really need help!

    Why can't you attend. You can get a continuance but only for a very good reason. Failure to show will not be tolerated and the judge will likely swear out a warrant for your immediate arrest. Tell us why you can't go.

    I can't attend because I'm not going to be in ny that day. It is on December 21st and I'm going on vacation with my family. I am really worried, I can't tell my parents, they are really strict, and I have not been in a good place with them for a couple of years, and finally now they trust me again and I really don't want to ruin it. I just can't handle this anymore, I think about it all the time. And its not something I even do , I have never had a problem with drugs nor do I plan on having one ever, I'm just really scared.

    You've got two choices... Tell 'em BEFORE you go to court, where you'll probably get probation at the worst... Or don't tell 'em, get a warrant for your arrest, get arrested, and go to court where you may NOT get probation because you skipped...

    excon is right on it, you can tell them and make your court date, or tell them when you call them to come bail you out of jail because if you don't show up, there will be a warrant out for you
