    Felony Pardon in Maryland
I am trying to help a family member clear their record. I have most all completely expunged, except the non-violent felonies (3) and they are 15 years old or more. I know they have to get a pardon by the governor, but how and who can help?

    Thanks,

    E.P.

A lot depends on what felonies you are trying clear from the record. As excon said, a lawyer is a good start. You might get some additional responses here if you include a bit more information.

Yes, the first step is to try and get the felonies explunged in court.

A pardon almost never happens, do you have some good political ties, are you close to someoene in your state law makers who can lobby the governor for you. And in the end, the majority of those pardons that do get issued will be on the last day of a governor who is leaving office.

Election year is about the worst year to try, political people often go get tough on crime, not pardon them.
