    County Jail Classifications
    I have a friend who is currently incarcerated in the county detention center... His classification type has changed recently from GP to GP (KT) IO and I was just curious to know if anybody could tell me what this means?

    I would hazard to guess that the gp stands for "General Population," which means he has no restrictions on his incarceration. In other words, he's just a regular inmate. I do not know what the other classification is, but you can find out the next time you visit him. If it is like my Ex's was, you have to see him from a video room? And you have to sign in? I'm certain that the ladies that sign you in, can give the answer. If not, just call the jail.

    Each jail can well have their own classification system, often it has to do with if they are convicted or not, their status, what charges and more.

    Best bet, call the jail and ask them.
