Confusing information on net about class c misdemeanor Texas expungement
Hello I live in state of Texas and I recently got a judgment on my court case, the disposition letter reads “Plea of Guilty before court deferred adjudication – class c.” I was arrested for a theft incident. Anyway after researching on the net regarding expungement, I am really confused because no one site gives the same answer. Either the sites have too much technical terms confusing the heck out of me or very vague answers leaving me to interpret it. Anyway was wondering if there is an experienced individual on this forum, familiar with Texas Criminal law and has an answer to my question.

If answer to above question is a “YES” can I file for expugement by myself without having to pay lawyers? If so is there a site to get this information? I live in Dallas so if there is a place I will have to go to get the information, I can do that as well.

To get things cleared expugement means all my records (arrest and court decision) will be destroyed correct?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello w:

I don't know how much help I'm going to be, cause I don't know if Texas HAS expungement... What I CAN tell you is if they DO have provisions for it, I'm absolutely certain that it's going to require a period of criminal free conduct before it's granted.

Plus, if they DO have expungment, of course you're going to need a lawyer to get it.. It's NOT a simple submit a form kind of thing. There's going to be a hearing where a prosecutor is going to tell the judge all the reasons he SHOULDN'T grant it... If you have any hope of winning, you're going to need a guy of YOUR side telling the judge something else.

So, I'd visit a criminal lawyer and ask him. He won't charge you for telling you the law.
