7 year background check on felony record or from release date
I have a felony from 2005. It is just over 7 years ago. I am trying to get into a company that allows felons to work for them as long as it is over 7 years. So I thought... Once I got further in the process of being hired I was informed that it is 7 years from the release date. I was released 4 1/2 years ago. I read on another post on this site that the background checks that they run only show up felonys committed in the last 7 years. Is this true? Will it show up my conviction date or my release date?

No, criminal background searches show any and all convictions ever done, does not matter if it is 40 years ago. We have been told that certain states have rules that only convictions within 7 years can be used.

But as a officer when we ran reports it had everything

Thank you for responding to my question. When you run the background checks does it show the conviction date or the release date or both. Do staffing services have access to the exact things that you were able to see?

Conviction dates and release dates, also it can depend on what company they use or if they get it from the State government itself.

Most places always use conviction dates, since people get released differently

Ok thank you. I went to prison for uttering and publishing on my own checking account and paid all the money back for the bad checks and never have done anything else wrong besides that and I am having a heck of a time even getting a job in a factory! Hopefully the background check brings back only the conviction date. Thank you for the information.
