Subpeonaed by a collector without prior written notification
I came home today to a subpeona attached to my door. I don't recognize the debt and it may be one my ex husband incurred. I pulled my credit report and there it was with an "open account" date of 2008 which is Bull. I want to ask them to validate it, can I? Im thinking about writing to the Department of Consumer affairs as well and opening an investigation against them.

ALSO on the day the papers were left at my door I was going away for 2 days and took the papers with me and lost them. How can I get a copy? Do I just go to my Civil Court. I'm in New York City.

I want to take care of this as quickly as possible.

    Thanks for your help.:o

I found the listing on my credit report which I just pulled. I went away on the day I was served and took the papers with me and LOST THEM. I am going to civil court to get a copy of the Subpoena on Monday but in the meantime all I have is my credit report which states a bogus account open date.
