    Required meeting at work
At my place of employement, it is not required but in order to get raises one needs to be on commitees and also it makes our hospital look better if the nurses our on these commitees. If you are on a committee then it is required to come in to meetings once a month. Now the meeting used to be 2 hrs. but now they put them to 1 hr. I live 34 miles away so with traffic it takes me at least 45 min. each way if I'm lucky. Is there a labor law that says if you come to work for a meeting that they have to pay you at least 2 hrs. Or because it is not manatory to be on the committee they it does not count even though the meeting is manatory?

I don't think there is any law that says they have to pay you.
If you have to punch in for the meeting or you are in a union then that may make a difference. Maybe to make it more 'enjoyable' you could see about turning it into a pot luck luncheon or something,
At my work meetings they always provide a nice luncheon but then I work in a cafeteria,

If you are REQUIRED to be a committee, yes, you have to be paid.

If they WANT you to be on a committee and so you are, no, it's your choice and you do not have to be paid.

I note you are also "unhappy" about breaks, lunch, your pay. Do you belong to a union?
