Can my employer dock my salary for giving me a short week w/ pd holiday in it
The week of New Years, our employer sent everyone home midday the day before New Year's Eve. He told us surprise and enjoy the holiday. My salary was docked $100 for that week. When I asked why, I was told because it was a short week. Mind you, they did NOT do that to my check from Christmas week, where we were off Eve and Day. Is this legal in AZ?

    Hello d:

It may be. But, over $100, the question is, what do you want to DO about it. If it were me, I'd try to get my money, AND keep my job.

Toward that end, I'd send the boss a light hearted email.

    Dear Boss,

Thank you for the gift of the afternoon off, and thank you for billing me for it. What's up with that?

    Love, Danigirl.

Are you actual salary or are you salary, which of the days are "paid" holidays. The 100 would be 1/2 a day, so you normal salary is about 200 a day?

Employer threatening to dock wages. [ 6 Answers ]

My employer recently sent out a mass e-mail threatening to dock wages if the Dress Code is not adhered to, at the rate of 50 cents per hour for 30 days. They send out secret shoppers and evidently are willing to take the word of the secret shopper as truth. Is this legal? Thanks
