    sealing a cutting board
:-[Hi: yes if you use vegetable oil you could be in the toilet. Goes Rancid. Beware.

At one time they always used Mineral oil, but now I think they sell it in Kichen utensil Stores where you buy wooden blocks.. Always wash boards with soapy water, and let dry, and then reapply mineral oil just a touch. I'll be watching this column to see any updates.

    Good luck

    What about this
We have a simple cutting board, plain and unfinished. I feel the need to seal it with something, my dad however couldn't care less. Se he suggested Cristo. For some reason my stomach turned at the thought of it but I could not offer a better idea. I saw your other answer with mineral oil- is that good for all cutting boards? What about a wax of some swort?
