    First floor joists
    After a small fire I have had to cut out 2 metres of 3 joists can I just join new joists on to the existing by bolting them together

    If your local code allows. I assume you are Canada, GB or continent. It is called "sistering. Make the sistered joists as long as possible and bolt them together.
    Google "sistering joists " for good detail.
