    Walls and floor separating
    Need your advice on what is the best way to fix this gap between walls and between walls and floor. Please look at the pictures.
    I do not think is a structural or fundation problem but please let me know if you think this might be so. Initially thought drywall termites were the culprit (live in FL)but the termite inspector did not think so, we had the house tented since he did find them somewhere else in the house.


    I thought maybe filling the gap with silicone caulk and maybe put some grout stuff to match the rest of the shower, do you think this might work? I'm not very handy and can not afford a professional, but need to be able to use this shower since I have guests coming and one shower just won't do.

    What is under shower base?

    What u have is major shifting of studding.

    In order to repair correctly, shower should be gutted and studding inspected. Then rebuild with concrete wall board ,sealed and tiled.

    If need to know how to do this let us know.

    I agree, do not fill this gap unless you want to fill it again next month too. Your pics were great and #2 clearly shows the wall has moved. You already have mold and there is no fixing what was done completely wrong. Tear it out and get a secure studded wall before covering with Hardiebacker or other cemetaceous material which will be water resistant.

    Thanks so much for the advise, I guess one shower will have to do, I'll just leave it alone till I can redo the whole shower as advised.

    2 showers better than 1...

    So why not do the silicone quick fix... until guest leave or you have the time to fix it correctly ?

    Good "Duck-Tape" works wanders too !
