    Where do I start with my project of building a second level in my Ranch home?
    Do I start with an architect or a builder ? :) Thank you

    Start with youyr building and zoning department to make sure this will be allowed. A structural engineer or architect would need to determine if your foundation and first floor can carry the load of a second floor. Do not start with a contractor.
