Basement leak due to new agg patio
I had an aggregate patio poured directly up against my brick house. During a heavy rain I found water in my basement. I traced the leak to an area where there is an approx. 1/2 - 1" gap between the expansion paper and the brick wall. This gap is approximately 6" long. The water puddles there and you can watch it seep in. The contractor said not his problem and to have someone caulk the large gap. Is this proper procedure for this problem? Should he be the one to caulk? Or is he really not liable. With that size gap, is caulking enough, or should I fill the gap with something before caulking?

Dude, 1" ? that's not a "gap" that's a crevice! I wonder if your patio settled or shifted away from the house because I doubt it would be built like that on purpose. Good luck!
