Sorry I went on vacation
To install a new shower unit I had to remove the old tile install the unit sheetrock the wall and now I want to reuse the old tile

Cut off old bolts with metal blade and sawzall ,get new bolts,drill new holes larger than new bolts with hammer drill and concrete/masonry bit then use two part epoxy toset new bolts

You could try on some scraps to kreg jig screw it together if the underside won't be seen

I would go with the stain . I think it lasts longer also when it is time to re up there is a lot less prep work
