I am going to go out on a limb and say I am not sure it can even be done.

Building codes will most likely require some specific foundation rules and other construction rules on walls and roofing that a barn may not meet.

Before going through trouble of plans for conversion, check with building dept to see if it can be done legally.

I agree with both posts. Check before you ask us for plans. This likely is not allowed in your town.

This can be done. You will have to look into local building codes for residential habitat. Many people in hunting areas use these types of structures for hunting cabins and the like. Residences will have different codes than hunting cabins. Cities will have more restrictions than the counties. If you are in Panama City Beach, then you will have the added issues with hurricane codes.

http://sumtercountyfl.gov/archives/4...;20Minutes.pdf is a link for a case involving a pole barn converted to a residence. The major problem is ensuring electrical and plumbing and the inspection thereof.

    Hey Joe,
I have done pole barns over in Arcadia . Can they be converted to a single family residence? Yes they can.
If you can get the permits and furnish us with a drawing of where you want the fixtures to go we can draw up the plumbing to code.
Just post over on The Plumbing Page when you're ready. Good luck, Tom
