How do you break up concrete
How do I break up the 4 inch concrete pad in the base of my shower? I got all the tiles off and have lifted the concrete pad a couple of inches but it's 3'x3' and too heavy for me to lift out in one piece. I need to get the rubber memberane underneath off to look to see if leaks went further than the wallboard and some top wood.
    Thanks

Rent a breaking hammer... Home Depot has them where they rent equipment, or some other tool rental place. They typically cost too much to buy unless you use them frequently.

Its really like a tiny Jackhammer or a really big hammer drill.

Should do it in short order.

Shower bases are typically made from a sand mix or thinset. Meaning that they are not as hard to break up as concrete. Probably can be broken up with a 3 or 4 lb sledge hammer and a chisel. From your screen name I assume you are a female. Might be require too much strength for you to do. Best bet is to hire a laborer for a couple hours.
