Attaching a board to a wall. Example Drilling a hole in a piece of wood. Drilling a hole in a cement wall and putting in an anchor. But then you bring the wood over to the wall and the hole in the wood does not line up with the wall anchor in the wall. Must be a kind of a template out there?

I'm attempting to drill a lot of holes in a galvanized steel garbage can. I'm finding it easier just to put nail holes in it, but of course they are not large enough. Should I just get a fatter nail, or am I going about this the wrong way:confused:

Hi ,I want to move a 3" abs ventpipe in a floor space. The floor joists are 2X10 and near the supporting wall .Can I drill the joist? Do I need to use plywood or 2X10 to sister the floor joist to make up for the weakening .thanks bman55golf
