A lot would depend on what the local code permits. In a non code area, you can install a wood stove anywhere. You would need to have the necessary clearances and fire protection on all 4 sides of the heater, pipe the vent through a wall thimble designed for a vent pipe and then run a flue up the outside wall. SLow burning wood stoves are notorious for creosote build up so make sure you watch for that. Hearth.com and other sites can help you.
