IRS Tax filling from out of USA
Dear Atlanta Expert and other expert friends,

Thank you for your contribution and helping individuals.

I have question regarding taxes. On October 1, 2005, my status was change from F1 to H1B.

During Mid November I took extended vacation to visit India and gave my company Indian postal address. The company has sent me W-2 form with Indian residential address on it.

I stayed in US on H1B from October 1,2005 to Mid November 07 and as per my understanding I am resident for tax purpose for year 06.

I wanted to confirm if I can use 1040EZ. Please advice if I need to fill any other forms?

My present address is Indian address and not US address - will it be any problem?

Please also inform where I need to send my tax form from India - I have not received any booklet or envelop with particular address.

    Thanking you in anticipation.
    Sincerely,
    MKD

For 2006, you can use Form 1040EZ if you have no dependents or unusual deductions. The address on the W-2 will make no difference.

For 2005, you MAY file as a dual-status alien, but I see no advantage in doing so. You have the option to file as a non-resident alien (Form 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ), and I recommend you do so.

You can download the necessary forms and instructions from Internal Revenue Service, or you can contact me for help!

    Thank you Atlanta Expert.

Do I need to send any other form other than 1040EZ and what address I need to send the form.
The FORM instruction ask to look at the back of the cover for sending the form and I don't find the address (I don't have the usual self address envelope of IRS). Please advice which address I need to send the tax form from India.

Thanking you again for your advice and help,
    Regards,
    MKD
