    Excel: date formula
Say you have a date (21/7/08) typed in a cell and want the cell directly below it to be automatically calculated 7 days from the date in the cell above (27/7/08). How do you do this?

Then once you've done this, you want a column of dates to automatically appear as follows:

    21/7/08
    22/7/08
    23/7/08
    24/7/08
    25/7/08

I know this can be done and is supposed to be beginner level excel knowledge, yet I can't figure it out and using the help menu isn't helping. If anyone happens to know how to do this, I'd appreciate the advice.

If the date is in cell A1, the cell below it would have the formula =a1+7.

Now copy that cell down as many as many times as you want, don't manually setup the other cells, copy A2 down to the rest of the cells you want. Works great.

I booked myself into an introductory excel course in early August to revisit what I'd forgotten from a beginners course I took years ago. Unless you know what it can do and actually use it for those things, it stays hopelessly under-utilised and things easily forgotten. It's only because it's being demanded from me now that I'm flustering about with it.

Thanks again for the immediate help.
