Hi, I was doing some cleanup on my PC, and accidentially either lost or deleted my desktop icon, would some one please give me some idea as how to recover this item. Your help would be gratefully appreciated, thxs a lot. :confused:

Hi,
Are you referring to the windows "update" Desktop Icon?
There are normally many icons on the desktop.
What is your windows version, such as 98, XP, etc?
And, do you use Internet Explorer, and if so what version, such as IE 6 etc?
Meantime, you could try this:
Go to Start, then look at your startup items above in the popup selections. If you meant windows update, and if you see Windows Update listed, then Right click on it, then Left click on Create Shortcut.
It will create a shortcut called "Windows Upate (2)".
You can then Left click on that name, hold down the left mouse key, and drag it to your desktop. Then, you can rename it by:
Right click on the icon, then Left click on Rename, then type in what you would like to call it.
