Not opening, error message DISABLED BY ADMINISTRATOR< and I'm logged in as administrator and there is no such option to enable it... kindly reply fast

Hi,
This is probably because of a virus or something. I guess that u don't have the run box as well.
If u do type in gpedit.msc (should work for most types of windows). If you don't have, do a search to find gpedit.msc (c:\windows\system32). This is the group policy or local policy editor.
Once u open that u go to: User Configuration
Select Administrative Templates
Select System
Select Ctrl+Alt+Delete options
Select Remove Task Manager
Double-click the Remove Task Manager option and choose disable.
To get your run box back as well u go to:user config.
Administrative templates
Start menu and taskbar,
And look for: remove Run menu from start menu, double click and choose disable.


U should be OK once u do that. But the first thing u have to do is to check for a virus or adware-spyware.

This sounds like you have been "playing" with one of the many XP Tools programs which has allowed you to change some advanced features OR whomever you purchased your machine from has locked you out of "Features" which are likely to make changes to the machine.

Try "Right Clicking" on the Task Bar at the bottom of your screen - and select "Task Manager" - to see if starting the program in a different area will give you a different capability

There are some nasty viruses that modify the registry in an effort to prevent the user from removing the virus. Doing a complete virus scan in Safe Mode may cure the situation but I have also seen cases where a Windows repair/reinstall had to be performed. Can you access the System Restore function?

When I open system restore option, it shows all drive monitoring... and no other option.. can't solve the problem yet,,

Nope, it's definitely a virus, I've seen it a few times before!

If you are using Windows XP Professional,
Using Group Policy Editor to fix this issue

Click Start, Run, type gpedit.msc and click OK.
For the Task Manager Disabled part:
Navigate to this path
User Configuration
=> Administrative Templates
==> System
===> Ctrl+Alt+Delete Options
====> Remove Task Manager
Double-click the Remove Task Manager option.
Set the policy to Not Configured or Disabled.

If you are using Windows XP Home Edition,
Using Registry Editor
Click Start and type regedit in the Start Search dialog box and click OK.

Navigate to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\System]
In the right pane, delete the DWORD value "DisableTaskMgr"

Log off for the changes to take effect
