My PCs cannot connect to my wireless network! WRT160 N Linksys router
Hello, I have a WRT160N Linksys router. Recently I called Linksys because I had a few questions. After talking to Linksys I found later that my wireless was not working. I think that they may have reset it or something. Anyway I went into the router setup and made a new SSID and WEP key. I can see the SSID with my wireless devices, and I am positive that I entered the right WEP. I am sure it is just the wireless because right now I am connected via a patch cable from the router to this laptop. What happens is when I do connect the wireless works for a few minutes then drops for a few minutes and comes back, this cycle repeats over and over. I sure it is just a wireless setting but I can't figure it out and its driving my CRAZY! Something to do with IP and MAC address perhap?

Why not just open it up and see how it connects. That way you will know if the frequency is stable or not. If it is then go back and secure it.

If this happens only with the laptop then there may be a problem with the wireless portion of the unit. Have you taken the laptop to a hotspot and tried it there and see if the connection holds? If it does then your router may need to be replaced. You shouldn't be losing signal every few minutes once a stable connection has been established.
