    opening recycle bin results in blue screen of death
    Hey whenever I try to open my recycle bin in windows xp I get the blue screen. I've searched everywhere for a solution to this problem with no luck. I cannot empty it in safe mode as a result of my external hard drive (maxtor) not booting (maxtor manager). Any help will be much appreciated.

    System Info: Dell Dimension E510, Windows XP SP3, Intel Pentium D, 1GB RAM, 2 x 250GB internal HDD, 500GB external HDD Maxtor

    Boot your computer into safe mode and do a system restore. You might need to try several restore points before gaining success. This worked on my computer after a couple of restore tries.

    Any changes that either happened or that you perhaps made to your computer around the time that the problem started; particularly any software or hardware that you installed or setup.

    As mentioned, try to do a system restore, in safe mode or normal mode

    -Go down till you see

    If that does not resolve it, it should if you go back to date when this was not happening

    Repair Installation
    A Repair Install will replace the system files with the files on the XP CD used for the Repair Install. It will leave your applications and settings intact, but Windows updates will need to be reapplied.

    Perform a Repair Installation
