How to fix a rebooting computer
Hi
My friend had a problem with his computer he told me it keeps rebooting on him and I told him that it might be the ram, hardware & software conflicks, so I took it home and I found another stick of 128 SDram and put it in. There was no change. I also took out his modem from the computer too, than I read on the internet that try takeing all the cords out than putting them back in. I did that and it keeps rebooting on me. I couldn't scan for virus cause the computer won't stay on for that long. The rebooting does not happen in a constint stream either, sometimes it lasts 10mins than other times it lasts right when windows boots up. I even tried to install windows again and that didn't work. I don't know what else to do. Like it doesn't last long for me to fully install windows either. It will reboot in the mits of installing windows than go back a little ways and I got to do it all over again. Can you please help me.

I had the same problem about 2 years ago, it turned out I had the "MSBlast Worm". Try the following:
(1) Turn on Windows Firewall, it may stop the PC from rebooting.
(2) Download the stinger.exe It will remove Lovsan (McAfee's name for the MSBlast Worm) and a number of other recent worms, trojans, and viruses. Read the instructions on the Stinger web page carefully, then download Stinger from the web site and run it on your PC, found here:

Hey John Doe99
I just formate this guys computer and it keeps rebooting on the install and I can never install it fully. Here is another question if I formated the hard drive wouldn't that take care of that? Cause it erases the whole hrd drive don't it?

Yes a format would definitely get rid of a Virus, seen as you managed to Format the PC it would seem there's something else causing the PC to reboot.
There are a few reasons left now as to what could cause a PC to reboot continuosly:
(1) a heat related issue, possibly the CPU is overheating or a failure in the Fan.
(2) a faulty Hard Drive, if you have a replacement you could try swapping to see if any difference.
Those above would really need to be tested byb a professional instore.

I just wanted to tell you the result of what you told me to try.
Now for the fan, I put my AMD fan and heatsink on his cpu and it is much bigger than his fan. I put my hand over the fan and there was cool air coming from it. It still does reboot still.
Now for the other hd I couldn't get this working because I didn't have another free set of hd. I tried putting the hard drive that guy had or that I am trying to get working. I have an error coming up at startup " A Disk Read Error Occured" "Press CTRL+ALT+DEL To Restart" and I can't remember what I do for that. But I left it on to that Error above for like 1hr and it hasn't rebooted but I would like to try to accually getting the hd drive to work and see if it will reboot on me, like I know on the windows Xp perfessional setup it will restart on me and I know where exacally where it starts to reboot.

I have already downloaded two out of the three apps, the Spinrite app I couldn't not get because I don't have a credit Card or else I would download it. For the others I need to get this error that I have been getting fix first before I try them. It's the error I typed out for JohnDoe99. I have to get windows installed on that hard drive before I can use those programs.
When I get some information about that error and fix it I will try those programs and I will let you know the results for the two programs.
I just want to thank Johndoe99 and Itstudent2006 for all your help with this, I appreciate it a lot.
