    I would like to know how to place a icon of the web page I am on the desk top

    Try this:

    Save the web page as a favorite
    -
    -now right click and hold on the favorite and drag that to your desktop and release mouse and choose, Create shortcut or move or copy here

    You cannot drag from favorites to the desktop, as the desktop is not there

    OR-

    Go to the webpage, and copy the address from the address bar in your browser. Go to the desktop, and right click an empty area. Go to New -> Shortcut. In the box that pops up, paste the address of the webpage. Click next, and follow the onscreen instructions. When you're done, you'll have a shortcut to the page on your desktop.

    It does work, here is another way

    -right click on the shortcut you made in favorites and then choose Send to.. and choose send to desktop shortcut
