Hey everyone how's it going?

I'm running windows vista ultimate, I recently downloaded a song that was actually a .exe rather than a .mp3, so I tried to open the .exe as a song by right clicking and selecting "open with" then click on the WMP11 icon, but I didn't realize that the box was ticked for "open all the same file types with this software".

So now every single .exe application is opening with WMP11! I can't even do a system restore because the system restore is a .exe, and I can't find a tab where I can choose a different default program for .exe's

I've been trying to fix it for about an hour but I'm not getting anywhere, very frustrating! Any help is greatly appreciated :)

This sounds really weired. I just went through some steps after reading your questions and found out the below solution for you

Go to Folder Options > File Types > Create a new File Type by clicking the Button = NEW

File Extension = .exe or exe
Advanced = Associated File Type = Application

If above doesn't work, then right click any *.exe file and say open with, in Open With option, click browse and choose Explorer.exe (C:\Windows\explorer.exe)

I actually tried doing that same thing mate and it completely flipped out, but cheers for the help man :) :)

I was talking to a mate on webmsn (as msn is a .exe haha) and he found this site that worked a charm!
