    About logons welcome screen
I have window xp home addition,I can not figure out how to just have one icon that would be on the logon or welcome screen to click on to logon to the computer, the only with no password, that has been the only way I could do that is to have a password with my name, but when I take the password away my administrator name icon is not there when I reboot no icon that I could just click on is gone. Are I can put a user name there, and then
My name would be there and the user name will be there so there is 2 icons there on the logon to click on,but when I take the user name off and reboot booth icons will be gone.
Can someone please tell me what I have to do to get this wright.Thank you for your time.
    Best Regards

Logon in safe mode by pressing f8 immediately after turning the computer back on. (keep pressing it).
Choose 'safe mode', then logon to 'administrator'.
Go to start/control/panel/user accounts/ delete or create the user you want to appear. Reboot, let it boot to windows normally.

cogs I believe that he has a username already created however he wants to have to choose his username to log into windows, otherwise it will just stay on the logon screen.

In order to do this try doing the following:

Start-> Run -> in the run box type in "control userpasswords2"

Here's the visual tutorial for it:
    Control Userpasswords2 - Luke Jackson
I only have the winlogon screen with all the usernames, and I didn't think people would want to logon the other way. By the way, does this way come up with the little box to type in username and password? And sorry, the original post was unclear. Thanks!

If you have the "Use the welcome screen" checked under the Start->Control Panel->User Accounts->Change the way users log on and off then I do not think you will have the old school 2000ish logon box.
