What led you to make a personal study of the scriptures?
We all hear the Bible read in church, and there are lots of children's Bible story books, and some people study it themselves at home. What led you as an adult to study the scriptures, perhaps reading the Entire Book cover to cover? For me, it hit me one day while my wife and I were trying to remember a scene from a movie. Why spend so much time remembering things like that, TV shows etc about things that never really happened to people that don't exist? Get back to reality! The people in the Bible really existed, not those people on soap operas etc that we waste so much time on. At that time, I could tell you more about what happened on Gilligan's Island than what happened in Exodus. But now a few years later I have read and studied the whole Book{not meaning to brag here.} And it means so much more reading it as an adult withn adult eyes and wisdom than from hearing children's stories. I keep a copy in my truck so I can read it if I'm stuck in traffic

Long story. Suffice to say that I was once atheist. As an atheist I despised both the Scriptures and the Catholic Church.

When I fell in love with God. When you fall in love with someone you want to know them better.

So, I came back to Christianity. First, I avoided the Catholic Church. But Luther's teaching of Sola Scriptura made no sense to me since I had never understood Scripture. Even at that time, I relied on others to explain Scripture to me.

Eventually I came back to the Catholic Church. So much of Catholic Teaching is from Scripture that I fell in love with the Word. And when you fall in love with someone you want to know them better. So I fell in love with Scripture.

And to my surprise, I could now understand it.

De Maria so good to hear from you again it's been awhile for me I've had to be offline due to wildfires in Calif. It is amazing how much better you understand things when older and wiser. And how many things you hear in the course of everday life that you didn't even know were in the Bible until you read it for yourself!
