    Do we control god?
I found this on a website yesterday, and I wanted to see what other people thought about it. It said:

The things we do can make the biblical god angry and the devotion we offer can sway him to intervene and grant miracles. Thus, Christians believe we have influence (and therefore power) over God.

When I read this, I seriously didn't know what to think. I'm not sure if I believe and agree with it, or not. What do you think about it?

This is tricky, and more than a little tough. I'm not claiming any authority or intellect here, just going with what I think.

I think that it's possible that God may intervene in human affairs when a faithful person or group is acting/praying/whatever-ing within His will. That's hard to define, and I'm not presumptious enough to claim to know the will of God.

Somewhere in the Gospel of John (sorry, don't have a Bible handy), there is a point where Jesus says something along the lines of "They will do greater things than these" and "whatever you ask the Father in My Name, He will be faithful to grant." I know I probably butchered those verses. The key, I think, is the phrase "in My Name." After doing a bit of research and consulting with folks who are familiar with Greek language and Jewish customs/religious language, it seems that simply ending a prayer with the trite phrase "in Jesus' name" is NOT what the Lord meant when he said that. Rather, it involves praying the will of God, praying and acting in total faith in Jesus, striving to live, act, worship, pray, everything in the MANNER and LIKENESS of Jesus. In other words, if we're trying in our own pathetic little human way to emulate Jesus as best we can, and are truly trying to act according to his Kingdom's principles, then God may very well exercise His will along those lines.

The professor that I talked about this with stated it much better and in a way that's easier to understand.

The bottom line is it has more to do with US falling in line with GOD'S will than GOD falling in with OUR will.

I read on a web site about a aliens landing and talking with the president, so you read some silly material on a web site, does not make it true, most likely in the billions of web pages, a large number has incorrect info on them.

God is forgiving that is one of his most wonderful ways

We know that God gets angry, answers prayers, intervenes, and does miraculous things, but we don't know His reasoning for His decisions to do those things therefore there is no control on our part.
I agree with the other posters... our having control over God is a ridiculous notion.

Mans intellect is so subordinate to Gods wisdom. When we all die and must face the mignificent splendor of Him... many will fall from their pedistals of pride.
