    Christmas concert to holiday concert
At my school we always had a concert called the christmas concert. Then we had a new jewish principal who wanted to change it to the holiday concert. There was an extremely large debate over this and still going on. Any advice?

You are going to see more of that. There is no Christmas anymore, just some holiday time to please all the population. You celebrate as you see fit, no matter if you are Christian, Pagan, Wiccan, Jewish, etc. Schools are so worried about getting sued if they use the word Christmas. I think if they are that worried, then do not celebrate any holiday, because someone will likely be offended. Keep school open and going. No parties, no gifts, no cookies or treats. Just neuter the whole holiday question throughout the year.

If the concert is not going to celebrate Christ, it is not a chrismass concert,

If it is going to celebrate santa claus and non christian music, it is really a holiday concert.

I would prefer things to be what they really are.

Some folks and school administartors know church and government should not mix but they tend to go too far. Government should not teach religion or support one over the other but they do not need to ignore it. Ask you Principal to look at the coins in his/her pocket, don't they say "In God We Trust?" Fr_Chuck makes an excellent point aboit the difference between Christmas concerts and holiday concerts. Did you used to sing about Santa or Jesus Christ?

The music we learn has santa songs, but also jewish songs. This concert is right before the break we have for christmas.
