Be strong. I have no experience with ODD but with add children, and if he is on medication, the medicine if not administered at the right doses makes you crazy.

Seek help, support, and resources... more than this board can offer... to help you and guide you. Try the thingseven if they do not make sense.

    Really, good luck!!

You are doing everything you can and continue to be strong, persistent and patient in your efforts. You sought more information on the condition, find support groups, he is more then likely on prescribed medication and you feel at a loss still. Bonding time is really special... is your son into sports? Or does your family do anything once a week to spend time together like movie/game/pizza night?

I am sure he does not hate you; it may be that he is having issues coping with his emotions or isn't letting out his frustrations out constructively? What kind of things is he doing to make you think that he hates you?

With a little experience with ADHD and ODD, I wanted to let you know that you are not alone. So many children have disorders that make life difficult for them and for us. It is an extremely hard and tiring and endless job. I do not believe your child hates you. Even if he says he does, these disorders wreak havoc on the emotions. I can't even imagine the difficulties he must be having! As a parent, it is good to remember that we are on the child's side. We love them more than anyone else can and we are their greatest advocates. Understanding and accepting them for who they are, and helping them to overcome obstacles. It is a never ending journey, with bumps and bruises, but entirely worth it. Support groups for him or you, books, seminars, psychologists... whatever it takes... Because this is your child, and whatever he is going through - he needs your help, and he may think he hates you for it, but in the end, you will be the reason he makes it in this world... and when someday he can look at you and thank you, or tell you he loves you, it will make everything worth it...
