I have a question about visitation rights as an aunt. My brothers wife will not allow any of my family to see my nephew without my brother or her being there, but she will allow her family take him for days at a time. Is there something I can do as an aunt so that I can spend a few hours with my nephew?

Is your husband an alcoholic (wino) as your nick suggests? If that is the case, then do you really blame her. She is just looking out for the safety of her child.

What are her reasons for only supervised visitation?

Generally visitation rights extend only to the other parent and sometimes to grandparents. Otherwise the custodial parent has full discretion.

I would guess the screen name you chose may be a clue as to why.

Wino is my husbands nickname from when he was younger. He does not drink that often and when he does it is never around my nephew. My sister in law is a very strange lady and she does not let any of my family see my nephew not even my parents.

I think that you should be OK with your brother or his wife being there. There's no reason to try to get visitation, you get to see him. It's their baby and it's up to them how they want to handle it. No court would give you visitation just because you don't want your brother or his wife there when you see the baby. It's not your baby, don't forget that. Just be happy you see the baby, there's no reason to be jealous because his wife's family get's him alone and you don't. And just like the other guy that answered you said... if your hubby is an alcoholic, then that's a good reason not to let you see the baby without someone being there.
