How can I get my 3 year old to sleep?

My 3 year old son just stopped using a bottle 3 weeks ago. He goes to bed at 8:30 pm and cries, sings, etc... for 2 hours and sleeps all night. However when he has to go to daycare in the mornings he is tired and wants to sleep more. He goes to daycare twice a week and the others our neighbor comes over and he sleeps until he gets up. How can I get my kid to sleep with out crying and such for 2 hours. He is tired, but wants to stay up and play.
