    Girlfriend
I'm in 6th grade and I've had this crush on this since 5th grade girl not because she's cute (which she is, extremely) but because like me she's at the top of the class and she's got the most impeccable personality. We are in 2 classes together, and we usually talk between periods and after school because we live 10 minutes walk away. She doesn't have a phone, though. I've also caught her looking at me sometimes, and we'll share these long, meaningful looks. From what I can tell, we both really like each other, but I can't bring myself to ask her out. WHAT DO I DO!

    P.S. Her name is <removed for privacy>

So you like each other and talk a lot. Not surprising you are scared at your age, but feelings can change without warning my very young friend, and if you cannot express yours, then you may miss a chance, so find some courage.

If you can't you just have to be happy with what you have. No worries though, maybe you aren't ready to ask a girl for a date, but in time you will, like I say crushes come and go at your age, so don't fret too much just enjoy having a cool friend until you do find some courage.

LOL, maybe she is as scared as YOU are.

I don't get it! It seems like EVERYONE these days feels that they have to make this huge leap into dating.
    NOT TRUE!
Drop the word 'date' from your vocabulary, and get to know her more by just walking and talking. You will sense whether or not she is interested in you for real by how glad she is to see you and how sad she is to leave. Of course you need to be glad and sad too, so she senses it in you. Then you can go for a daytime walk for an ice cream or something, or study for an exam or work on a school project at each other's houses. Nope, still not a real date! If you keep being casual about the little walks, the date will just happen. An event you both want to go to, or a movie... one of you will mention going and there you are - on a date. No big deal at all.

Fitfh grade means she 10 or 11 and you are 11 or 12. That is too young for romantic relationships. It is very likely her parents won't even permit her dating nor will yours. Just be friends, let the friendship grow and save the romantic stuff until you are no longer children.
