    Child abandonment
    My grandsons have been living with us since Sept. 07. My daughter was also with us for a few months, however, she has moved to Dallas (we live in OKC) and will only tell me she's staying in a suite provided by her boss, and the place she says she is working says they have never heard of her. I can very rarely get her to return my phone calls, it's usually two to four days before she'll call back. I know she's doing something illegal, and I'm afraid she's going to one day show up and take the boys to Dallas with her and something bad will happen to them there.
    Their daddy is not involved in their life, and has been out of the picture for the past year.
    My husband and I have been providing total care of the boys - they have not spoken with their mom in almost three weeks.
    What actions do I need to take to get custody of my grandsons?

    Seek legal advice, no matter what you do you will have to have a lawyer to even begin the process. Or maybe cps can help, if not they can point you in the right direction. Know that's not much to go on, but looks like you will be needing a lawyer. Hope all works out well for you.

    I agree, you need a lawyer. They both have to sign over their rights for you to adopt the boys! Good luck:)

    Do you have something in writing that allows you to sign authorizations for medical treatment should something happen to them while in your care? Who pays for their medical bills? Or - are they covered under insurance... if so - whose? If not, and you have no way of reaching her should an emergency arise, contact social services and explain that you want to keep the children, but want to protect the children and have the rights to make decisions in their best interest - medical care, school, etc. There are lots of questions that need answers before true answers can come.
