    Uncontrollable shivering?
Is there something wrong with me because out of no where, I shiver. My body shakes and it looks like I am dancing but it happens even when I am not cold. Its embarrassing and Im not sure if it is an actual problem or a lot of people also shiver.

I think you should tell your parents and get them to take you to the doctor as soon as possible it could be somthin serious hun I don't mean to scare you but you should have spoken to your parents instead of waiting for areply off sum1 on hear if their was adoctor on hear they still couldn't tell you wats rong because they can't see you or examin you.
[[you should always tell your parents if somthin is worriein you about your health]]

I get shivers all the time, feels like something crawling up my spine, I shiver then it's gone.

Can you go into more details? Chances are this is just an "itch" in your central nervous system. No big deal most of the time. Unless of course it happens for extended periods and lasts more than a few seconds.

But if it was just ashiver everyone gets them so it woulndt be embarrassing infrunt of others,so it must be uncontrolable and lasting awhile otherwise he wouldn't of come on hear worried about it

To go more into detail, it looks like I am "shimmying". It lasts no more than 30 seconds but I get them constantly. I have told my parents but they didn't think anything of it.

If it happens once or twice a day no big deal. If it happens continuously throughout the day, you should be concerned.

A shiver when you are not cold is just a central nervous system response to something as simple as a hair tickling the back of your neck, but you don't actually feel it, you just shiver.

Shiver... nothing to be concerned about.

Shimmying... could be a neurological problem. How often does it happen? Are you in a particular place/time of day/doing a certain activity when this happens? How vigorous is this "shimmy?"

Shimmying was the best word I could come up with to describe it but its more like the shaking of my shoulders. It happens at random; I could have 5 a day or none at all and some shakes are worse than others.

My name is Bella-Rose and I began having these violent, lengthy shivering episodes around 4 years ago and they have gotten progressively worse. I have it on very good authority : my neurologist ( I am also epileptic), my naturopath and my family physician that it is a result of Hypothyroidism. The test results all recently came back and I have a follow up appt. with my new Endocrynologist in 2 weeks. Anyway my parents are both physicians and there reaction at the above comment of "neurological itch's" was funny. If it is persistent then get it checked and stop self diagnosing and listening to poorly informed people who want to help but are merely grabbing at straws. I am also lucky enough to live in Canada where I can depend on our great universal health care system so that I do not have to resort to discussing my medical queries with unqualified strangers over the internet. The only reason I visited this site was simply out of curiosity to see what goes on on these sites and it is just too bad that so much misinformation going around and the reasons for it. Good luck to you all. I am told that with the proper, insured, medication this problem will most certainly resolve itself within weeks of starting the treatment. Sincerely, Bella-Rose

He was assumed to be nuts, and even visited a physchiatrist...
