    How long could a pause between the first day and rest of the period be?
    I was diagnosed with anorexia and during that time my periods had stopped.I am OK now though. I had my first and last period 15 months ago. Recently, I have had lots of hormone symptoms. My chest grew 2 cup sizes. For two months I even had cramps in period-like intervals. Last Wednesday, I think I started my period but I am not sure. I only had blood when I wiped and it was red, not brown as many people have. So I am sure it is blood. It has been 3 days since then and I have had nothing. My mum says that for some women this can happen and they may have nothing for up to a week but I am not sure.

    Do my symptoms sound like I am starting my period?
    Is this sort of a pause normal?

    Since your cycles have been irregular, and you have had health concerns, it would not be surprising that your period is off.

    Some women do have what appears to be a start of a period, only for it to be a few days before it really gets going. This may be what will happen for you, it may be that you are just going to have that short bit of bleeding this cycle as your body continues to regulate itself and get your hormones back into balance.
