    Acetone vapor is used to smooth the layer lines on ABS plastic 3D prints. It seems the 3D industry has no solution to smoothing PLA prints. As chemists, do you have any ideas on a solvent for PLA that could be used to vapor smooth PLA printed objects? Thank you for any suggestions I could try at home. Obviously, extremely hazardous or expensive chemicals would not be practical.

    Acetone while not extremely expensive... IS extremely flamible and hazardous.
