That's great that you've gotten into cheerleading! Ive been cheering since I was 5 years old and I currently cheer for West Virginia University.
The first thing I would recommend to you is to keep your motions tight and sharp. Its really an irritating and boring thing to work on, but it makes you look really good. If you aren't in gymnastics, get into it. Next, keep a smile on your face, or at least attempt to look happy, lol!. Even when you are just at practice doing cheers in front of your coaches, they like to see a smile. It will also get you a nice spot on the sideline so you aren't hid in the back ;). I don't know if it is required for your program or not, but tumbling skills can be important when it comes to cheerleading. How old are you and what grade are you in? That would give me a better idea of what to tell you stunting/basing wise. If you have any specific questions on being a flyer or base let me know.. its more my passion.

Well what do you cheer for? Basketball, football? Well there are cheers that you can use that are just general chants like… (My personal favorite!)

C'mon crowd (pause) shout it LOUD!
Tell the team they make us proud!
    Let's GO (TEAM NAME) (Pause)
    Let's GO (TEAM NAME)
C'mon crowd (pause) shout it LOUD!
Tell the team they make us proud!

    :) Hope this helps!

Hey I've been cheering for two years and I absolutley love it!
What you really must do to get the coach's attention is smile, always be happy, always be ready, and always pay attention.
Never have an attitude or talk back.
Say yes ma'am, no ma'am, yes sir, no sir, BE POLITE!
    Stay sharp!
    And stay on beat.
When you say the cheers , SAY them, don't sing them!
    And be loud!
Don't be nervous! If you need anytihng else, just ask!
    Good luck!

Hey I've been cheerleading and doing gymnastics for almost 13 years and I have coached a couple teams and I absolutely love it!! Some things that I would suggest you work on are staying sharp and not singing the cheers make sure you are yelling loud and cut your words!! And facials... facials are a huge deal!! Just accept the fact that you will probably look a little silly but the sillier the better ecspecially if you are a competition cheeleader... when it comes to stunts I would advise you to try it all out because the more experienced you are the better!! GOOD LUCK!! IF you have any other questions feel free to ask!

You should definantly get into gymnastics if your going to be stunting then do some research on your spot in the stunt.always smile , have sharp motions and have fun and the rest will come! good luck!
