Hello. I'm very worried about my cat. She is a two year old and she had a litter of kittens one month ago. Everything has been fine. Last night she threw up. It smelled up the whole house but I couldn't find it. It still smells three hours later.

This morning she is stiff legged. She's not bending her legs and just lies on the ground. She can walk but drops over rather than sitting down. She's still purring and nursing her kittens. She is drinking water. Her voice seems very hoarse (she's siamese, so there's a lot of 'talking'.) She keeps flicking her tail in irritation.

The only recent changes around here have been that it got very hot yesterday. Also, we changed the cat food from Alley Cat to Purina Kitten Chow. Normally neither of my cats will eat anything but Alley Cat, but as the kittens have started eating, we changed it a few days ago.

I'd take her to a vet right now, but as we've had a number of other emergencies this month, there is no way.

Call up the vet and tell them what is going, tell them about your cat and that you're short on cash they should help you one way or another, but get ahold of your vet asap

Eclampsia means calcium deficiency, the mom has been doing her job feeding hungry little mouths and literally depleted her own supply of calcium. Starts as stiff, painful gait continues to muscle spasms, unable to stand, elevated body temp. seizures then the last thing to transpire is not fixable with a funeral left untreated. Having told you the problem, I know your are thinking MILK! That's a great idea now that you gave milk to an adult nursing cat, we have Eclampsia Diarrhea and Vomiting..,. Take her to the Vet, they get 7 drops of blood find out exactly how low she is, and start IV fluids and small amounts of Ca over time to bring her levels to normal again. Then they will tell you how alley cat is most likely the cause and how to keep her at normal levels with a diff, dietary essentials.

I secretly want the person that said all pet food is basically the same to accidentally read this. Lol too funny.
