So, this is my cat's 2nd litter. She is almost 2 years of age. Her first litter she had 3 healthy babies. All of them survived. This time, my youngest brother found our dog playing with the dead body of one. It was still covered in the sack that it was born in but the sack of dried. We found the 2nd kitten later, out of the sack. Momma kitty was laying on my bed, where she always sleeps. The babies were found in the living room. What would cause momma kitty to abandon her babies? Did they die? Was there something wrong with them? Three days ago, she was bleeding. Is this an indicator that they babies would die? Or did the dog kill them? Would momma have even let the dog anywhere near the babies?

So sorry for the loss of the babies. I am no expert; but I have had many, many cats and kittens over the years. Some mama kitties have difficult births and do not know how to expel their babies from the afterbirth. I also wonder why the dog was allowed to be in the birthing area. Probably not a good idea. I always tried to attend my cats when they gave birth... not always possible, but try to give them a very private area where no other animals can pass through. I also believe it my be time to spay your kitty... she has done enough.
