    Cat & Kitten queries
I have 2 adult female cats and one male kitten found as a stray. After about a week here the kitten is having bowel control problems. His stools are soft/loose and just drops out of him. He won't clean himself and sleeps a lot. Vomited only once (that I know of), full of food chunks. One of the adult cats has developed a dislike of being touched on the belly,as if it's tender. The other is fine. Both adults have been pooping on my floor occasioanly sinc the kitten joined the family. That, I know, is behavioral. I check the kitten's stools and I see no evidence of parasites. I'm thinking I'm taking him to the shelter, but I wanted to see if there's something I can do first. I'd hate to add another animal to an already overpopulated statistic.

Greetings... I would immediately take the ill animals to your vet to see if they might test positive for FIP. Besides those tests, they probably need physicals, too. If you take the cat(s) to the shelter, they will be immediately destroyed, so that is never really a loving option and you are correct about overpopulation. Please see your vet soon. Only then will you be able to make an educated decision about what is next. Although the vet bills can get expensive, it's better to know. Good luck. =^^=
