We got a kitten from a friend of the family. The mother had left and he nursed them from just under 2 weeks old. I know that generally they don't leave the mother until at least 8 weeks. He's been nursed and is now eating kitten food just fine. He had fleas, but we've treated them the way I've known for kittens so young is washing them with dawn dish detergent and some warm water. We seem to have gotten them all off the kitten and we're now treating everything he's come in contact with. Should I contact a vet now or wait until he's 8weeks? He hasn't been to a vet yet.

You should always take a newly acquired pet to the vet as soon as you can, regardless of age.

Your kitten is probably not going to get vaccinated, but chances are they will deworm it at the very least, and ensure it's healthy.
