    Newborn kittens
My 9 month old kitten has just had kittens( ) but she keeps leaving them and wondering around the house everyhour or so is this normal or is she rejecting them although she is still feeding them. And also when can we pick the kittens up and stroke them.

Its normal and you can pick them up when they are about 5 weeks but you can pick them up for a quick minute before then to change there cage etc..

You can pick them up anytime. The more gentle handling they get the socialized better they are . I have hand raised many litters and they are more social and loving if they are handled often. 9 months old is rather early for a cat to be giving birth, but as long as she spends a good deal of time with the kittens and seems to be licking them and caring for them, they should do okay.
It is not uncommon for a feline to eat her kittens if she doesn't accept them. Keep a close eye on her and if she does abandon them, you will need to bottle feed them until they are old enough to feed themselves. You will also have to stimulate their bowel and bladder with a warm soft moist cloth. Hopefully she will do just fine with them.. please keep us posted

    Hi,
Very good answer by Stormy! Tried giving a comment, but got the "spread it around....".
I agree that at 9 mo, this seems a little young. But, she seems to be doing very well with the kittens.

If your cat loves and trusts you there should be no problem with you handling the kittens. She will know your scent and it won't bother her. If you get very worried about the kittens, you might try putting a heating pad( ON LOW) under a corner of her whelping box, (NOT IN THE BOX, if a kitten gets right on top of it.. . Well not good) to help keep them warm when she is away. This is assuming you are using a cardboard box. Check every once in a while to make sure it's not getting too warm. Every heating pad has it's own levels. You want to make sure it's not a fire risk.
