    Kitten Can't Walk Properly
Hi,My Cat Had 3 Kittens Recently On 27 May 2011 & One Of Them Can't Walk. They Were Born On After Another. But The Last Kitten To Be Born Can't Walk Properly, They Are All Very Healthy But The Last One Can't Use His Back legs Properly, He Tries To Stand Up & Stays Up For A While But Falls Down Again, I Always Assist Him When He Walks. Our House Has Carpets Except For The Kitchen Could It Be Anything To Do With The Carpets?

No nothing to do with the carpets. He is the last kitten born, right ? He is the runt and will need extra care. He could have oncoming distemper and if he starts sneezing, his eyes become mattery and he has trouble breathing, this is distemper and they don't last long after that. Sorry. Been through this on the farm with many kitten litters. I hate to see it, and when I get a female cat I always have them spayed.

When he stands, do his back hips and legs look like they're sitting properly? It could be a hip issue.

I knew a cat that had about the same problem as a kitten. He took longer than his brothers to figure out how to walk, jump, climb, and do most things that come naturally for a cat. He was healthy, and the sweetest cat ever, just slower to learn than other cats.

If your baby is otherwise healthy, I would suggest just waiting it out. He may just be a special needs kitty that needs a little more time, attention, and love to pick up all the normal kitty things.

Like tickle said, keep a close eye on him for any signs of illness and symptoms of distemper. If it is distemper, or another illness, then you don't want it spreading to the rest of the kitties.
