How do I find out if it was my cat that was run over?
My cat went missing for 5 days, I delivered posters with a picture of her to over 100 houses. I received calls from several people saying they'd seen a cat matching her description lying dead in the road near to me. Each detail was different to the collar she was wearing to the day she was seen and picked up.One caller said they informed the council while another said they contacted the RSPCA.The Cats Protection Scheme state on their website that the council and Cory Environmental record any dead animals they collect whether micro chipped or not to which both deny. She was micro chipped so I rang the vets,RSPCA, Cory Environmental and my local council all of which say she would have been scanned and I would have been notified immediately. She's been missing almost 2 weeks now and I've not heard a thing informing me she has been collected. Do I assume it was her and was failed to be informed?

I wouldn't assume anything unless/until she's positively identified. It's always possible that someone didn't notify you but... I'd keep looking on the outside chance that she's still alive.

    Is she an outside cat?

Sometimes microchips fail or the 'move'... They are generally inserted around the back of the neck and when an animal comes into a pound/vet/RSPCA etc they scan they general region but you'd be surprised- sometimes it could end up at their tail or front foot! Microchips aren't as sure a thing as you would hope. But if she had a collar as well I'm sure that would have had your contact details on it? Hopefully someone nice is feeding her and keeping her warm till she finds her way back to you

Thank you for your replies. Yes, she is an outside cat but had lost her contact tag and I hadn't got round to replacing it. She's never stayed away longer than 2 days before and even then we found her at my mum's house next door. My next step is to contact my local paper asking if a member of the public removed the found cat off the highway as she still hasn't returned.

I'd like to put a 1/2 bath in my basement but I'm not sure where my drains run. A 4" drain runs down from an upstairs bath in the Northwest corner (I'll call this drain1).
