Found a kitten I think it is sick
Yesterday (wed.) I was driving into my driveway when my kids from the back seat yelled a baby kitten. I went over to investigate (already having 2 cats at home) and found a very small aprox. 3to 4week old kitten he is very cute but his eyes are glued shut with mucus. He is sneezing, and coughing. I am unemployed and can't afford to take this cat to the vet but want to help him. I cleaned out his eyes and got the left one to open fully and the right half way. I am a little concerned though because he is sneezing out green mucus. Does anyone know what I should do?

That sounds like cat flu do you not have a cat shelter that could help you out the kitten needs treating or its going to die.

If you intend to keep it you should defently try the not so expensive vet products at walmart or another store try pet store for its sneezing it could be just a minor sinus prob. But it could be major.. try cheap meds... but if they don't work you should bring it to a vet or a shelter or something... do you intend to keep it?

I will keep it for as long as it takes to get better. Do you know of any meds that are sold at petsmart or walmart that I can give it. Keep in mind that it is only 3-4 weeks old. My husband tried to call and make it a vet apt but we only have one office in our city, and they can't take him till next Thursday. I don't know what to do. I don't want him to die.

Yes, the kitten has a Upper Respitory Infection (URI). The green snot means the infection IS winning over the infection. Clear snot means that the infection is NOT winning. Take her to your local animal shelter and ask for antibiotics as soon as possible!

Your local animal shelter will give you the name of an area vet who will treat the kitten at a very low cost or for free. If you can't find info, email me through this site. I will help.

I have to say that I disagree with the suggestion of "chep" medications , I have to strongly caution against the harms that these "cheap" medications can do . I have read many articles vet supported that warn against the administering of these lines to our household pets.. please be careful and see a Vet.

Some medicines will kill a cat ,so be careful what you give.Tylenol is a drug that should never be given to a cat.It will destroy a cats liver and kidneys. The cat does have an upper respritory infection, and it is very contagous,so keep your other cats away and wash your hands regularly. The eyes are glued because of conjuntivitis, and this is also contagous. The cat needs amoxidrops and eye sauve, which usually costs about 20.00 total for both.Hopefully you can find a vet that will give you these meds, because you will soon have 3 cats with the same sickness if your other cats have been exposed.Good luck, and tell us how things are going.

Take him to the shelter, if you haven't done so. They'll take care of him.

Hey, Your best bet is to take the cat to the vet If you tell them its very urgent they may make an exception for you. At least they do in our town and we only have one too. Otherwise Wash his face with a warm face cloth, get some BNP Eye Oinment (I think you can only get it from the vet clinic but it works wonders and its not expensive). If you have a shower, take him in the bathroom with you and let him breath in the steam from your hot shower. Make sure he isn't getting dehydrated. Make sure he's eating and drinking. Check his poop and his pea. Make sure there is no blood in them, and you know if it is very soft and mushy, If it looks normal. Etc.
Hope this helps! But Like I said your best bet is to get him to your local vet.
