    Cats going bald on back
I put flea poison medicine on my cat and the next day that very spot went bald. Now she licks the irritated spot a lot and gives out weird twitches. Do you know what’s wrong?

What kind of "flea poison medicine" and was it a medication specifically for cats?

There is a ton of info about the danger of these products on the Internet.

If she is licking the spot she very well is ingesting even more chemicals.

    What does your Vet say?

What was the brand? Did you give her the correct dosage?

You need to wash it off her. She shouldn't even BE able to reach the spot, if you applied it correctly. Every flea treatment I've seen tells you to apply it to the base of the neck, between the shoulder blades. Unless your cat is part owl, she shouldn't be able to reach that area.

Give her a bath. Use just a TINY amount of dish soap to make sure you get ALL the medicine off. If she's so allergic to it that it caused instant hair loss, then imagine what EATING it is doing to her.

If at all possible, get her to a vet. You need to make sure that it didn't do more damage than just what you're seeing. Your vet may also be able to sell you a natural flea treatment made from essential oils.

The natural treatments are safer for pets, and cause fewer reactions. They're also less harmful if ingested. That doesn't mean they're non-toxic, just that they shouldn't cause severe illness if they do manage to lick it off. Think throwing up instead of possible internal damage.
