There are many things that could be causing your cat's problem. It could be something as simple as ear mites or as serious as a bone stuck in his throat/teeth. First, try to get him and inspect his ears, face and head for anything unusual. This could be dark matter in his ears; lumps or bumps on his head, face or neck; puncture wounds; etc. If you find nothing, try to see in his mouth. This can be done by cupping your hand across the top of the face where the eyes are with your thumb on one side and fingers on the other. While holding firmly (but gently) use your index finger on your other hand to pull his bottom jaw down gently. While holding his mouth open inspect the teeth, gums, tongue and roof of his mouth. Look for cuts, breaks, tears, bones, redness/irritation or anything else that looks out of place.

Depending upon your findings and how serious you feel the issue is, you might take your cat to the vet for treatment or add the information to this post so we might be able to direct you further. Either way, please let us know the results. If the cat isn't eating/drinking he should go to the vet as soon as possible.

    Hope this helps...

    Hugs, Didi

He/she is probably scared because he/she saw something when he/she ran away comfort him/her an play with him/her. She/he should be fine in a little while and if this lasts for more than a couple weeks you should take him/her to the vet to get checked out

He may well have been shocked or he has heart his head or someone has harassed him when he was missing
